The Place of Courtly Values in Chaucer's "The Miller's Tale"

While the adherence to courtly values is normally what is hoped for in the gentility, and admired in the lower classes, we see that The Millers Tale mocks those who heed traditional standards of behavior. As we can see by the take of the events in the tale, The Millers Tale prizes those characters who are shrewd, and who leave the ideals of the courtly values behind.
